[Visa Updates] Support for Foreign Youth Growing Up in Korea

The goal is to support foreign youth who
have grown up in Korea to achieve self-sufficiency through employment and
residency, even if they do not pursue higher education after high school.
A) General Applicants
Eligibility
Criteria:
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Aged 18–24 and legally residing in Korea at the time of
application.
- Have lived in Korea for at least 7 years before age 18
(Overseas stays of 91 days or more are excluded). - No continuous overseas residence of more than 3 years
between ages 10–18.
- Have completed (or equivalent to) Korean elementary, middle,
and high school education.
- High school seniors may submit a certificate of expected
graduation when applying for employment or training status changes.
B) Exceptional Cases
Applicants who meet conditions 1–3
but not 4 must complete the Korea Immigration & integration program(KIIP).
- Those lacking certain levels of Korean schooling must complete
the KIIP.
C) Long-Term Overseas Stay
Applicants with extended overseas stays
must submit a written explanation and supporting documents.
- Approval may be affected if valid reasons are not provided.
- Documentation is required if:
- A single overseas stay exceeded 6 months, or
- Total overseas stays in the past 7 years exceed 2 years but
are under 3 years.
